The Bachelor’s Home.
_____

By Gosh
____

Affectionately Dedicated to Unus Singulorum

How merry are they
Who their senses obey,
And live single-unmarried alone;
Words cannot express
The neatness and peace
Which are found in a bachelor’s home.

 That neatness was mine
When the blessing-divine
Of living alone I pass’d;
No baby to cry –
No bunting to buy
Gee-roo-sa-lum, how I am blest!

Not all the day long
To hear snivel and song—
Without probation I guess’d
Tis nothing to fear –
But the devil to bear—
Gee-ru-sa-lum, how I’m blest!

How jolly are they
Who their reason obey
And live wifeless-babyless-alone;
Words cannot express
The quiet and rest
Which abound in a bachelor’s home.
